How to restrict access to specific document areas by role or user
Per-category permissions
Per-category permissions let you define who can do what in each document area.
Configuration by role
- Administration → DAM Roles
- Select a role (e.g., Editor)
- For each category, enable/disable: view, download, upload, edit, delete, share
Practical example
| Contracts | Invoices | Employees | |
|---|---|---|---|
| HR Team | Viewer | None | Editor |
| Purchasing | Editor | Editor | None |
| Management | Viewer | Viewer | Viewer |
Per-user override
For individual exceptions, use User Category Permissions. These take priority over the role.
⚠️ If a user has no permissions on a category, documents in that category won't appear in their search results or navigation.
